It's The Trifecta Of Entertainment This Week At The Niswonger!
NO-vember is the perfect time to say YES to entertainment at The Niswonger. The first week of this month is a majestic trifecta of diversity as The Ohio State University Marching Band, Grand Funk Railroad, and Splish-Splash: The Music Of Bobby Darin reign on the stage! The Van Wert Live Team and Volunteers are pushing capacity to the limit this week to ensure all systems are in place to deliver experiences that are SO GOOD they demand a return! So if you have tickets to one show or all three, here's what you can expect to see if you ride along with me!
On Wednesday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m. the mighty OSUMB brings the thrill of gameday tradition to the Niswonger stage. The Ohio State University Marching Band earned its name as The Best Damn Band in the Land by developing many famous marching band innovations, including floating and animated formations, script writing, and the fast cadence with a high knee lift. The band’s Script Ohio is considered by many to be the most memorable tradition in college band history. Carrying on the tradition of excellence that dates back to the late 1800s, the “Pride of the Buckeyes” is one of the few college all-brass-and-percussion bands in the U.S. and is acknowledged as the largest of its type in the world. An ensemble that includes student members from all over the country, the OSUMB strives to continue a legacy of hard work, determination, and Buckeye pride while performing at Ohio State football games and other events during the fall semester. What a true honor it is to welcome them back to Van Wert!
Then on Saturday, November 4 at 7:30 p.m., "The American Band" rolls into town! Grand Funk Railroad, the multi-talented band carries on the tradition of Grand Funk hits and has created a new chapter in their storied legacy. THE AMERICAN BAND TOUR 2023, brings seasoned Grand Funk lovers and contemporary rock fans who are discovering the group for the first time together to celebrate the 50th Anniversary Tour. Grand Funk's legacy still reigns over the Classic Rock landscape fifty years after its 1969 birth which is a testament to the group's influence and staying power. Mega-hits We're An American Band, I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home, Locomotion and Some Kind Of Wonderful still receive continuous airplay on Classic Rock radio. It will be a rockin' good time on Saturday night with when the Grand Funk style has the audience dancing in the aisle!
Finally, on Sunday, November 5 at 3:00 p.m. the audience will be transported away to Vegas as the iconic music of 50's crooner Bobby Darin fills the auditorium and our hearts with nostalgic bliss! Bobby Darin was an acclaimed American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actor in film and television. He performed in a range of music genres, including jazz, pop, rock’n’roll, folk, swing, and country. He started his show business career as a songwriter for Connie Francis and achieved world fame in 1958 with his own first million-seller “Splish Splash”. Bobby went on to record a treasure trove of hits that are enshrined in rock music history including Dream Lover, Beyond The Sea, Mack The Knife, and so many more. In this special show, Vegas entertainer Ron Gartner honors the Darin legacy… singing the songs of the swingin'-est guy who ever put on a tux…in a show that covers everything from Darin’s rock ‘n’ roll days to the evening at the Copa. Finger-snappin' favorites will be performed that takes us back to a day of high-rolling good times.
As the temperature starts to drop outside, we are turning up the heat at the Niswonger. Get your tickets now for these shows that light up our town!
